Our Use of Games and Equipment
1. The Horse's Equipment
We usually use bareback pads on the horses, so the riders can feel the horse's movement more easily. Where necessary a saddle will be used instead. The horse also wears a neck strap for the rider to hold on to. More competent riders will use the soft reins for steering. A lead rope attached to the dually halter allows the horse handler to safely lead the horse.
2. Additional Support for Riders
Some riders may need additional support to sit up straight such as the stabilising block depicted in the photo below.

3. Toys and Games
We have a variety of different toys and games that we use to improve the children's coordination, fine and gross motor movement, and speech. Some of the items we commonly use in sessions are hand puppets, rings, balls, toy horses, pegs, and pictures. We play different games like 'delivering mail', 'buying groceries at the shops', 'matching pictures with items', 'searching for hidden items', 'picking up/passing on/ putting down puppets, rings, balls' etc. To promote the children's physical development, especially their sense of balance and core strength, we lead the horses over poles and around cones and barrels. We usually have a course set up for each session that includes a range of tasks and games which help to enhance different abilities and skills.

In the 'skittle game', the rider tries to knock over the bottles by sending a ball through the pipe.
